Move forward instead of holding back – How can small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) successfully navigate the digital transformation?

German SMEs are facing profound change, particularly due to the growing importance of digital technologies. Existing approaches are often insufficient for managing the digital transformation in SMEs. A research project at LMU Munich funded by the Schick family shows that digital transformation is particularly successful in SMEs when companies not only invest in technologies, but also specifically take into account the specific strengths of SMEs – such as niche focus or regional roots – in their transformation.

Against this backdrop, a research project at LMU Munich funded by the Schick family has specifically examined digital transformation in SMEs.
