Existing approaches are often insufficient for managing the digital transformation in SMEs. A research project at LMU Munich funded by the Schick family shows that digital transformation is particularly successful in SMEs when companies not only invest in technologies, but also specifically take into account the specific strengths of SMEs – such as niche focus or regional roots – in their transformation.\nAgainst this backdrop, a research project at LMU Munich funded by the Schick family has specifically examined digital transformation in SMEs.\nThe key findings show that digital transformation is particularly effective\nwhen companies not only invest in technologies,\nbut also systematically integrate their typical SME strengths—such as niche focus or regional\nroots—into their transformation strategy.\n \n
